A loaded truck from the Cervecería Costa Rica (Costa Rican Brewery) suffered an accident for reasons still unclear the afternoon of Sunday, November 12, near the Juan Santamaría Airport, loosing boxes and boxes of beer that ended up on the middle of the highway.
Many of the beer bottles ended up broken, and the ones that didn’t break ended up in the hands of a group of people when they realized what had happened and immediately grabbed as many bottles as they could as if it was a piñata.
The truck lost approximately 20-30% of the load of beers it was carrying, which caused a huge traffic jam in the General Cañas Highway at close to 4 p.m..
